Empire Interactive Announces Handheld Version of Point-and-Click Puzzle Title
Posted by Nick24444, 208 days ago Jan 16, 2008 13:13

Empire Interactive released a statement today saying that it is developing a Nintendo DS version of the now-famous puzzle game Myst. Fans of the adventure series genre will be able to retrace their steps across the world of Myst which has been improved graphically and will features a brand new and originally composed soundtrack, re-mastered video scenes, and a new age, Rime, that didn’t make it into the original Myst title. The DS version of Myst will also make use of the Nintendo DS’s stylus tool for navigation throughout the game. The upper screen will display information related to the game as well as blown up images of the various environments and puzzles in Myst, while the lower screen will feature the mini-tools such as a magnifying glass, camera, notebook, and map. The lower screen will also contain the navigation screen that players will use to get themselves around the ages of Myst.

Karim Farghaly, the vice president of sales at Empire Interactive, says that Empire Interactive “felt it was only natural to partner with Hoplite Research and Cyan Worlds to bring Myst to an innovative system like the DS," due to the fact that Myst is “one of the strongest video game franchises in history.” Farghaly also added that “the DS addition to the MYST game library allows players to take advantage of the new features created exclusively for the DS, while still maintaining the integrity of this classic game, creating a refreshed, on-the-go adventure experience for players of all ages."

Also Manny Granillo, the president of Hoplite Research, stated that “it was important for us to work with a partner that understood family adventure titles to support the North American launch of MYST for the Nintendo DS."
