Resident Evil 4

Game Play: 10
This game was a blast to play. I had never played any of the previous Resident games, but was completely entertained with this installment. The game in some areas was quite a challenge; most notable was the scene in the house where wave after wave of infected zombies kept coming through the doors, windows, etc. This scene alone took me multiple attempts to clear. I’m sorry to say that if it wasn’t for the player’s guide, I may not have cleared some of the areas or puzzles.
Graphics: 10
The graphics of this game were astounding! The feel of the environments were unnerving and brought about feelings of dread. With various lighting textures, the locations each had their own appeal and personality.
Sound: 10
The sound effects were intense. Each weapon had its own distinct sound and were full of life. There’s a lot to be said for the sound of a chain-saw slinging maniac chasing you down!
Difficulty: Hard
Concept: 10
The overall concept of the game was appealing. Even though I had not played the previous Resident games, I was brought along within the new story line without confusion. The plot sets the main protagonist, Leon, in an infected town, searching for the President’s daughter. From there, it’s a constant struggle to survive the various infected villagers and mutant bosses.
Overall: 10
This game was a blast to play. Even though it was difficult in various places, it was a sense of accomplishment, when I was able to clear some difficult stages (even with the help of a guide). One unique facet was trying to keep the President’s daughter safe, while working through a series of stages. This one ranks up with my all-time favorite games I’ve played.
